So if there is a 4/4 kick you would use congas on the 8s - this way you will hear where your beat is in relation to the loop and you can tell if you are doing something odd and out of place - when the beat matches simply stop your loop, replace the drum on the 8s with the correct sounds and press play. Play the pattern on loop using media player or whatever -, match the tempo on 8s (i assume 8s has tap tempo to help you?) and program a beat in the 8s but use sounds that are diff to the actual loop you are using (good life in this example) right now i would focus purely on mastering the TR8S and then move to the deepmind - of course i am not saying ignore the deepmind but just play with it and try and become at one with the 8s - then everything else falls into place - you will be amazed how knowledge transfers between machines even though they have nothing to do with each otherįorget midi files for now would be my advice as you adding complications, certainly forget adding a daw -that shi7 can wait, enjoy the hardware for now and master that because daw create their own WTFĪ good idea if you really want this pattern as i assume this is a learning experience: Take your time and enjoy this journey, don't get bogged down in details too heavily, this is a fun hobby - keep it FUN. SO much to learn.learning is fun - my advice below is based on this post from you now we know you are learning and new to the game I got them during lock down but finding it hard to learn them all. The synths I will use is Deepmind 12 and made a bit of progress on that as well. I made some good progress actually I took a few drums from a 727 and mixed them with a 909 and have a decent beat. Would cubase be way better than this? Or what's the best program I can get in windows?Īt home I have a Roland TR 8S. mid file and then look at it in Aria Maestosa which is free for windows. However, I like the idea of this I actually downloaded an erasure. The mid file I found does the track a different way. i appreciate it more than when i first had one in. 'copy pad' on the SR16 is cool: stack up sounds easily. another 'wedge' machine, quite similar, is the Boss DR-660, where you can edit sounds more, but pretty similar operation. i was a fan of the HR16, which is a bit more jolly with the backlit LCD - but it couldn't save kits. using the 'erase' button to remove hits, it's hit&miss, which is fun, getting better with practice. the FILL button: takes you to the Fill in play mode, but in Compose, if you hold a pad, 'fill' retriggers notes at the same velocity/accent level, at selected quantize rate. Until you hit FILL and then you'll loop in the Fill part of the pattern until you've exited 'compose' (end up accidentally recording a random fill). if you want to keep running and toggle rec/play, start in 'compose', I like the way you can append patterns, chop down length easily, shift clock. once you have the flow of how to operate it, it can generate some good ideas. ended up just programming the drum machine from the pads. just been messing around with an Ion-badged SR16, past few days (came with a kit with pads and trigger module). Personally feel the TR/ pattern based thing is over-rated.i agree. Layering panning and tuning of sounds too. You can do quantized input on an SR16, and chaining, and any time signature, and flamming, with way more flexibility than a TR, if you want it.

They are not listed in the US store, but still available via search, and other vendors. The classic USG and USG-Pro are the baseline UniFi routers, which are aging. If you want to know more about the specific models of routers they sell, read on. If you want comparison charts of all UniFi routers, access points, and switches, refer to my UniFi Comparison Charts or my Ubiquiti Guide. UniFi routers are now split into the older “security gateway” and the newer “UniFi OS Console” and “Routing Offload” categories. Recently, Ubiquiti changed some of their naming conventions. The right solution depends on what kind of network you are trying to build, and what features you need to accomplish that. Mixing UniFi switches and access points with an EdgeRouter or 3rd party firewall is a common alternative. More complicated networking setups that require dynamic routing, custom NAT or advanced firewall features will probably not be well served by a UniFi router. UniFi routers offer basic routing, firewall, and VPN features. Going with a full UniFi stack has some benefits and some limitations, and some features that are not supported. You don’t need a UniFi router to run a UniFi network. UniFi networks are modular, and you can add and remove parts as needed. UniFi is separate from UISP, and the differences can get complicated. Ubiquiti also has a completely separate line of products, UISP EdgeRouters, which may be a better option for more advanced networks. There are two different generations and a few models to consider from each. UniFi routers, like the UniFi Dream Machine or upcoming UniFi Dream Wall, appear simple until you dig below the surface. Corel Painter 2022 review: the artist's appĬorel Painter 2022's UI and brush library has been overhauled (Image credit: Corel)įor serious painters and wannabe serious painters alike this is a reasonable one-time price, or even cheaper upgrade. When it is working in optimal performance though it is easy to see how engrossed one might get, considering the creative possibilities Painter 2022 offers. It basically shows you how well your baseline, CPU, and GPU are contributing to brush performance, offering you a score in red, amber, and green.īecause Corel Painter 2022 is aimed at replicating real media in immense detail it obviously becomes ‘needy’ in terms of your hardware’s attention, so to speak, so making sure you’re not running much else in the background is also recommended. Some of those ‘heavy weight’ painting techniques can seriously eat into your memory and graphics processor, but the brush performance accelerator you are presented with on opening Corel Painter 2022 does a fine assessment on how well the program will run on your setup, and offer handy suggestions as to how certain upgrades or tweaks might benefit your user experience. Refinement to the watercolour brushes and workflow is welcome (Image credit: Corel)Ĭorel Painter 2022 is heralded as the fastest yet, which it would be, being the latest version! In all seriousness though the GPU acceleration, added in 2020, has been tweaked to deal with those new and enhanced brushes. If you draw comics for example, you may only use a couple of sizes and brushes to ink your work – now, your custom palettes mean your flow is even more super smooth. You can keep a selection of your favourite brushes at hand in a custom palette, and the brush size library gives you easy access to your most used sizes, again, if you know what you usually need before you start painting it is now even easier to have everything at hand. The possibilities just rocketed in terms of experimenting with mixed media.Īnother super handy addition to the brush library is the ‘like’ button. You can now add the texture of wetness to dry media brushes, directly on watercolour layers, too. Use filters such as ‘watercolour compatible’ and hey presto – a list of every compatible brush from every category appears. It’s easy to forgive, however, and actually perfect for beginners, as every brush is now alphabetised and in easy to remember categories – with the addition of a filter search being its crowning glory. An overhaul and, some might say unnecessary, reorganisation of the brush library is the first thing that grabs you about Painter 2022. You’ll have to deal with hitting certain marks, placing special structures, and more. There’s actually a good deal of stuff for you to tweak and that you need to pay attention to as you build and contend with different boards specific challenges. I could see though, that if you like that sort of thing and love managing every little element, that might be an issue.īut, all of that said, while Tinytopia doesn’t do anytngi radically different, it isn’t exactly devoid of detail either. So I’ve hinted at this above, but Tinytopia doesn’t get completely lost in the little details of what you might find in some city-builders. You likely won’t get that from this game though. And when it starts to feel more like work than play, that’s a problem. You’ll see that right off the bat, when Tinytopia introduces you to your adviser, who’s an action figure. And the look of it, while cute, adds a terrifically fun flavor. There’s actually a ton happening in it to keep you busy. Yes, Tinytopia is all about toy cities, but don’t get the idea that it’s an overly simple game. Not to mention, it’s also relaxing as all get out. While there might not be all the minutia and micro-management as some other titles in the genre too, it’s a ton of fun. But it’s a lot more than that, which is mainly due to the incredibly fun idea behind Tinytopia. Cities that weren’t quite on the scale of a mega-city.Īnd in that regard, I was somewhat correct. At first glance, I thought it was a city-builder that focused on smaller burghs, like towns etc. I must admit, I had the wrong idea of what Tinytopia actually was. They are not related to truetornadoes, and may occur well in front of the storm. Gustnadoes are strong, very local spinning winds associated withthe gust front of a thunderstorm. Rotation in the cloud is less organised than in large rotatingstorms associated with most tornadoes, and the funnel usuallydoesn't touch down, when it would be classified as a weak tornado. They are associated withcooler days when convective activity is not as strong, andoccur with weak thunderstorms or growing cumulus clouds. They form in a rotating storm systemand are associated with a wall cloud, but often decay beforea tornado is born.īut once a dust cloud is visible below the funnel cloud, a tornado has, by definition, formed, as the dust cloudis clear evidence that the vortex associated with the funnel cloud has touched down.Ĭold air funnel clouds, probably more common in Canada, sitbetween landspouts and tornadoes. They are usually defined by swirling dust, may have a weakcondensation funnel reaching up to the cloud base, and can be quite destructive. They most commonly form under large, actively growing cumulus clouds or weak thunderstorms, but unlike tornadoes are not associated with a wall cloud or strongly rotating storms. More information on waterspouts can be found amongĪs the name implies, landspouts are the land-based equivalentof waterspouts. Rain, whichis often falling behind the spout, will kill a waterspoutby cooling the air around it, stopping convection and rotation. Thecolumn becomes ropy in appearance, and may bend. The final stages of a waterspout occur as the column loses contact with the warm water and rising air that formed it. Fairweather waterspoutsrarely exceed 100ft (30m) in diameter.Īpart from the spray at its base, the funnel is not composed ofwater, but is outlined by water vapour formed as pressure dropsand evaporative cooling occurs. Wind speeds within the spout are typically between 60 and 120 mph (95-195kph), strong enough to be destructive but not devastating. The height of the column is generally less than 300ft (100m),but can reach heights of 2000ft or 600m. The waterspout is now at its peak, and has commenced moving across the surface, generally slowly butspeeds up to 80mph (130kph) have been recorded. As rotation increases, spiral wind lanes extend outwards, and once wind speeds increaseenough, water is whipped up to form a small cloud at the base.Īs the spout grows a funnel develops and extends upwardstowards the cloud base. The first sign of a waterspout is a dark spot on the watersurface marking the beginning of a vortex. Unlike tornadoes, fair weather waterspouts grow from the bottom up. Often their development is associated with incoming colder air,- the waterspouts of the Great Lakes form this way when thewater temperature is at its peak in late summer and early fall. Waterspout, Florida Keys.Courtesy NOAA Photo Library Much of our knowledge of waterspouts comes from studies by Dr Joseph Golden of NOAA in the 1960s and 1970s, and one of his photos is reproduced here. These conditions occur frequently in theFlorida Keys, a prime spot for waterspout observation. They are less intense, and tend to form over warm bodies of water in association with rapidly growing cumulus clouds. The other, more common forms are Fairweather waterspouts. They are just as dangerous, form under a rotating storm or supercell, and like tornadoes are associated with a wall cloud. In fact some of them, the tornadic waterspouts, are tornadoes which either move over water from the land, or form over water. As their nameimplies they occur over larger bodies of water - lakes orstretches of sea - and have the typical funnel form of tornadoes. Waterspouts are perhaps the most familiar, and whenconditions are right they can be quite common. Have the fastest and most destructive winds of all, and they are discussed elsewhere. But there are several other members of the tornado family of fast rotating winds, usually not as destructive but still dangerous. Large scale weather systems like cyclones, hurricanes, and even closed high pressure systems have some development ofspiralling winds to them, strong and destructive in the case of Moving air has a tendency to spin - to form into a vortex. Waterspouts and other tornado look-alikes may precede or follow tornadoes.
